Alexander takes on the 2025 Great North Run
Alexander Dragonetti
My Story
I’m really excited to run a half-marathon (13.1 miles) in support of Mencap. I’ve never run this far – but I’m really looking forward to completing the Great North Run for such a good cause.
I know many of you donated earlier this year – so much that we surpassed the total prize money for the TV show the Traitors. For me, this was a different version of winning. If you can give any money – small or big – it will all help the 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK to live happy and healthy lives.
As some of you know, this is a cause incredibly close to my heart. My wonderful brother James had a learning disability, and benefitted hugely from the support that Mencap and its network provided. I’m delighted to have an opportunity to give back a bit by running quite a long way.
Being different isn’t easy – it takes repeated, continuous effort to break down barriers and normalise it. I’m proud to play a role for an organisation that does just that. We know people with a learning disability still face stigma and exclusion every day - I want to help Mencap increase visibility of learning disability – and promote acceptance and inclusion.
Any donation big or small is appreciated.
Thank you, Alexander
