My Story
About me
Hi I'm Cat and thank you for taking a moment to check out my page for The GNR! I'm really excited to be running this year for such an amazing charity, that's very dear to my heart, with two of my very gorgeous friends Ailsa and Conor.
So, why am I running ? A lot of you already know this about me, but when I was 18 I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (M.E./CFS), I was bed ridden for a year and struggled to even wash my hair without the help of my parents. Because of this, doctors told me it was unsafe for me to go to University and all my life plans pretty much crumbled. Since then, I graduated with both a 1st class honours degree and a masters degree. And I've dedicated my career within the arts to working with community groups, who might not always have access to theatre. Working towards building awareness for various different causes, promoting and striving towards a more accessible and equitable world and championing the voices of local people and celebrating what makes us different and unique and having fun while doing it.
I'm very fortunate that I'm now in a position where my body might actually be able to handle a half marathon (fingers crossed) and this is something that 10 or even 5 years ago, would have been impossible. So, I'm really excited to use this opportunity to prove a point to myself, raise awareness for M.E./CFS AND raise vital funds for The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company, a charity I've had the joy of working for, for the past 4 years. Where everyday we're raising awareness and making beautiful work.
