My Story

I’m taking on the Great North Run this year to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

Like most of us, I’ve seen first-hand just how much the NHS does for people. It’s not just the big emergencies or the life-saving treatments (though those are incredible enough). It’s the quiet dedication, the long shifts, the care and kindness that so often goes unseen.

I also come from a family of NHS workers, so I know a little of what goes on behind the scenes — the sacrifices, the missed family moments, the sheer effort it takes to keep everything going. That’s why I thought I’d better do something myself to show them, and all their colleagues, some kind of support.

Running this half marathon is my small way of giving something back. The money raised will go towards supporting NHS staff, patients, and volunteers — helping with everything from mental health support for workers to projects that make hospital stays a little less daunting.

I know times are tough and not everyone can give, but if you are able to donate, it really will make a difference. And if not, just cheering me on means a lot too!
