My Story

Running the Great North Run at the age of 73 will be a huge challenge, even more so because I'm a runner at the end of the pack all my running life.

De halve marathon van de Great North Run wordt op mijn 73e een enorme uitdaging, zeker omdat ik al mijn hele hardloopleven achteraan loop.

But I love running, and I love challenges. Especially if I can combine it with funfdraising for a good cause. And as a former Young Carer the choice of Carers Worldwide is only logical: CW supports unpaid carers and young carers in the global South. Being a young carer in the Netherlands was complicated; I can hardly imagine the burden for young carers in less priviliged communities.

Maar ik houd van hardlopen en van uitdagingen. Zeker als ik het kan doen voor een goed doel. Als voormalig jonge mantelzorger is de keuze voor Carers Worldwide alleen maar logisch: immers CW steunt (jonge) mantelzorgers in Zuid Azie. Jongemantelzorger-zijn in Nederland was ingewikkeld; ik kan me amper voorstellen hoe het is voor jonge mantelzorgers in minder bedeelde samenlevingen.
