We are running the Great North Run to raise money for the research and support provided by Breast Cancer Now. We are running in memory of Audrey Birt (El’s mother-in-law and Liz’s friend), Christina McKelvie ( Liz’s former colleague and member of the Scottish Parliament) and all those women and their families who have been, who are and who will be impacted by breast cancer.
When Audrey was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, the treatment option that enabled her to keep living, writing and enjoying time with her family and friends was a drug which had been under research during her time as Director of Breakthrough Breast Cancer (now Breast Cancer Now). That research gave all of us who love Audrey precious time with her.
Christina was a champion of breast cancer research in the parliament, raising funds with Breast Cancer Now’s Wear it Pink campaign every year.
New research gives people with breast cancer better treatment options, extending and enhancing lives. Please give anything and all that you can to keep funding world leading research and care for those with breast cancer and to find a cure for the future.
Thank you
El and Liz
