My Story
I'm running the Great North Run for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, and here's why:
In March 2022, I experienced an ectopic pregnancy. This was a medical emergency resulting in emergency surgery to remove a fallopian tube. I knew very little about ectopic pregnancies until it happened to me. It was one of the most frightening and traumatic moments of my life, and it opened my eyes to just how crucial awareness can be.
Ectopic pregnancies occur in about 1 in 80 pregnancies, and they can be life-threatening if not diagnosed early. Yet, so many people still don't know the symptoms: pain in the shoulder tip, one-sided abdominal pain, or unusual bleeding. Recognizing these signs can save lives.
I'm taking on the Great North Run not only as a personal challenge but to help raise awareness and funds for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, an incredible charity that supports people affected by ectopic pregnancy and works tirelessly to educate and inform.
Every step I take is for those who’ve been through it, those who are going through it, and to make sure more people understand what to look out for. If you can, please support me.
