My Story

🚨 NRL's Dynamic Duo, Nicola & Ashleigh, are hitting the GNR in September! 🚨

Ashleigh can crank out 10K’s faster than she swipes through CV’s on a Monday morning 🏃‍♀️💨

Meanwhile, Nicola’s NEVER run a day in her life, but she’s lacing up her trainers and stepping WAY out of her comfort zone to raise money for the West Cumbria Blind Society – because nothing says "helping others" like running 13.1 miles when you're more into prosecco than cardio. 😅

Why the effort? Because Nicola’s mum, Amanda, started losing her sight after feeling unwell whilst working in A&E. A bunch of tests said “all clear,” but by December, her sight deteriorated further which lead to a brain tumour diagnosis. The neurosurgeon at the RVI was absolutely amazing ( big shout out to him), but this type of tumour unfortunately resulted in complete loss of vision in one eye and tunnel vision in the other, leaving her severely partially sighted. But, with grit, resilience, and some serious help from the West Cumbria Blind Society, Amanda found new ways to navigate the world—and still laughs her way through it ( even when her son’s sneak into rooms to scare her!)

So if you’ve got a spare quid, a fiver, or just the spirit of “let’s do this,” please donate. It’s for those amazing people who’ve adapted and live their lives to the fullest despite severe sight difficulties. With the help of amazing charities such as West Cumbria Blind Society, let’s help others “see” the world in their own way!  🖤

P.S. Nicola’s Mam—we’re all so proud of you👏

P.P.S. Ash could have chosen any charity and she chose this one too - Legend 🖤
