My Story

Ukrainian refugees and a local sponsor are taking on the Great North Run to raise money for The Salvation Army – which has supported them since they came to the UK after the outbreak of war more than three years ago.

Maryna Rahulina, Tetiana Nikobenko, Daria Kostiuchenko and Marharyta Marchenko, who now all support, volunteer or work at Sunderland Monkwearmouth Salvation Army, and Ukrainian sponsor Peter Holmes will run the iconic half marathon, which starts in Newcastle and finishes in South Shields on Sunday 7 September.
