My Story
I’m taking on the worlds largest half marathon, the Great North Run on Sunday 7th September to raise funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
Back in 2021, just 10 days after Rogue, my youngest daughter, was born she was rushed to Sheffield Children's by ambulance with suspected sepsis.
Rogue was dangerously unwell. Her veins were so weak they couldn't find anywhere in her body to put a drip for the vital fluids and medicines she needed.
She had to have an IO, where the needle is drilled into bone as I sat by her side, unsure whether I was horrified by her screams or releaved just to hear her make a sound again.
After lots of incredible care, we found out Rogue had Bronchiolitis and after several days in hospital, thankfully she got better and was able to come home.
Not too long after Rogue's stay at hospital, I became a Governor at Sheffield Children's which opened my eyes even further to the amazing work happening across the Trust every day. I was so in awe I decided to apply for a job at Sheffield Children's which is where I work today as the Associate Director for Delivery & Improvement.
I couldn't be more proud to work at Sheffield Children's, or more grateful for how my incredible colleagues saved my daughters life. I'm running the Great North Run to raise funds to allow Sheffield Children's to continue to provide incredible care to every child who needs it.
With your support, we can help fund vital equipment, new facilities, and life-saving research to ensure every child gets the care they need.
Thank you so much for your support. Any amount, big or small, will help change lives.
