Arthritis causes debilitating pain and people with arthritis are often left to manage alone, as the condition is often overlooked. As a PhD student investigating the genetic origins of osteoarthritis, I was shocked to discover just how many people struggle with the effects of arthritis everyday, and that, for osteoarthritis, there are currently no pharmacological treatments available, with major surgery the only option. 

As Versus Arthritis provides funding to our lab at Newcastle University, I wanted to give something back, and raise some funds so that they can continue to fund vital research to help deepen the understanding of arthritis, invest in breakthrough treatments, and provide vital support for everyone affected by arthritis.
