About

A group of us from the IBD-RESPONSE team - runners of all abilities -have come together to take on the Great North Run as Team Wey Aye-BD RESPONSE!

IBD-RESPONSE (https://www.ibd-response.co.uk/)is a UK-wide flagship research study, led here in Newcastle, dedicated to improving treatment outcomes for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. With nearly 800 participants and over 250 researchers across 40+ NHS Trusts, we’re using cutting-edge science to understand how the gut microbiome, immune system, and diet influence treatment response.

Crohn’s & Colitis UK plays a vital role in supporting this work, and we want to give back by running and fundraising for them. Every penny raised helps fund research, raise awareness, and improve support for those living with these lifelong conditions.

With 13 of us, including researchers, patient representatives, and members of our wider network taking part, we’re excited to tackle this challenge together, celebrating both our passion for IBD research and our Geordie roots!

🙏 Please support us in any way you can, every donation makes a difference!
